Configuring Call Forwarding for Your Virtual Reception Service
The call forwarding feature that is built in to just about every phone system allows you to have your unanswered calls sent to your virtual receptionist. With call forwarding setup, your clients can call your regular phone number and have the call ring at your business like normal. If you do not answer then the call is sent to your virtual receptionist. It is easy to setup call forwarding (the process usually takes under a minute).
You will generally want to set a “conditional forward” which means that your unanswered calls will be sent to your virtual receptionist if you do not answer. Or, if you want all calls to go to your virtual receptionist, you can set an “unconditional forward.” An “unconditional forward” can be useful if you plan to have the virtual receptionist answer all calls (such as when you are on vacation).
Below are links to call forwarding guides for major landline, Voice Over IP (VoIP), and cell phone providers. If you do not see your phone provider listed below, you can contact that company directly for information on how to setup call forwarding.
